Belledonne is a good compromise between low and high mountains and is particulary
original thanks to its wild and uneven shape.
The fauna and flora are preserved still undamaged
; indeed the ibex has recently been reintroduced.
There are no crowded paths, hardly any refuges and tourists, which is
quite amazing since it is situated near Grenoble and Chambery.
As this mountain is quite unknown by the public, I wish to offer you
the possibility to discover this exciting and preserved place thanks to
hiking.
Right in the middle of Allevard
area, the mysterious valley of the Haut Bréda is bordered by the
massif of 7 laux which has witnessed wonderful and tremendous changings
: the steel industry, the white coal epic (i.e hydroelectricity), the
7 laux history, how people used to live, the overuhelming presence of
water …
The proximity of mountains,
the beauty of the landscape are upseting especially the striking contrast
between the greenish colours of the fields, the shining light of high
lakes and the mineral atmosphere that prevails further up.
Above 2 000 metres, you can go along neves, gazing at small glaciers and
the sun going down on thin summits and beautifully cut ridges : this is
Belledonne 's magic !!
